Resources

Every German learning resource I find, I'll put here. If you have any to add, let me know!

GermanPod101
This site is great for learning using listening skills (how you learn your first language). Lessons are broken up into small (usually 15-minute) podcasts that include a dialogue, grammar point, cultural insight, and vocab translations.

Probably my favorite find to date! The only downside: it's only free for the first 7 days.

Cost: Basic $4/month, Premium $10/month, Premium+ $23/month

Radio D
This is an excellent resource for audio learning. Introductory German is taught in twenty-six 15-minute episodes that are geared toward listening for context clues, as the scenes include a lot of ambient noise.

DuoLingo
I equate this to the free version of Rosetta Stone. It's set up like a game where once you've unlocked a certain level of achievements, you can level up. You also get points for learning and can compete with friends online.

Cost: free

DeutschlandRadio
Stream live German radio at the click of a button! Listen to native speakers about real world topics. Just remember not to get frustrated if you can't latch on to every word (or what may feel like any word, at first). The important thing is to practice those listening skills: focus on the cadence of a sentence, expose your ears to different accents, and try to figure out larger meaning from context clues.
